The Art of Donbass

Alexander Goloshuk

The artist Alexander Goloschuk from Donetsk, Ukraine The artist Alexander V. Goloschuk was born on 18th of January 1946 in Nyjnya Krynka village in Stalino region (present - Donetsk region). Aleksander V Goloshuk is a property-man, graphic and poster artist. In 1971 he graduated the Odessa Theatre Art Technical College. He is a member of the Cinematographers Union since since 1977, Ukrainian Theatre Society (since 1983).

From 1971 till 1980 he worked at Sverdlov film studio in Russia as a scenery designer for the “Privalov’s millions”, “The strongest” movies. From 1974 till 1977 he worked as an art director “Malachite casket”, “The Landlady of the Coppery Mountain” “The Stone Flower” cartoon films. From 1980 till 1983 he worked as property-man at young people's theatre in Donetsk. He was an art director of “Buratino” by O. Tolstoy (1982, the director was V. Zakharov), “The seal-ring” (1983, he director was E. Khazanov) performances.

1983-1993 A graphic artist of Donetsk industrial artistic centre. He created a number of playbills, posters for personal and group exhibitions of Donetsk painters, for the performances of Donetsk Regional Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Since 1978 he has been taking part in the exhibitions in Ukraine and other countries. He had his personal exhibition in 2004 in Donetsk.

 In his easel graphic he strives to broad poetic and philosophic conclusions of national and foreign history. The knowledge of Old Slavic language and Old Ukrainian mythology and literature are expressed in the last graphic cycle “The War and the Music” (1998-2003), “The Word” (2003-2004). The drawings are humanistic and they show the faith in the human spirit that is the main characteristic of the painter’s creative work.
